Isolated Pulmonary Valvular Regurgitation Complicated by Thyrotoxicosis.
Pulmonary valvular regurgitation occasionally develops in the course of bacterial endocarditis due to erosion or perforation of the valve cusps. It also may occur in patients with chronic pulmonary hypertension secondary to obstructive lesions in the left side of the heart or in the pulmonary blood vessels. In these latter circumstances, the regurgitation is thought to be due to stretching of t...
متن کاملA rare cause of Dysphagia - Dysphagia aortica - complicated with intravascular disseminated coagulopathy.
ABSTRACT Dysphagia aortica is an uncommon condition defined by the difficulty in swallowing caused by extrinsic compression of the esophagus due to an ectatic, tortuous, or aneurysmatic atherosclerotic thoracic aorta. متن کاملDysphagia as a primary manifestation of thyrotoxicosis: a case report.
This report deals with a middle aged man in whom the presenting symptom of the disorder was dysphagia. The clinical approach to the final diagnosis of thyrotoxic myopathy causing dysphagia is outlined and the pathophysiology of dysphagia then discussed. The need to include thyrotoxicosis in the differential diagnosis of an otherwise unexplained case of dysphagia is stressed.
متن کاملThyrotoxicosis in Pregnancy Complicated by Propylthiouracil-induced Hepatitis
Graves’ disease is the most common cause of hyperthyroidism during pregnancy. Propylthiouracil (PTU) is the treatment of choice due to its relative safety during pregnancy compared to methimazole. However, rarely, PTU causes serious complications like hepatitis. We report a case of hepatitis possibly related to PTU during pregnancy complicated by thyrotoxicosis.
متن کاملAnti-transcription Intermediary Factor1γ-antibody-positive Dermatomyositis Complicated by Dysphagia
A man who was aged in his 80s was hospitalized in our department because of Gottron’s sign, muscle weakness and dysphagia. He was diagnosed with dermatomyositis (DM) based on the physical symptoms, muscle enzyme elevation and the results of electromyography. Immunoprecipitation for myositis-specific antibodies revealed bands of 140/155 kDa (Picture 1), which were compatible with anti-transcript...
